What's the story on flu shots this year? I called the Douglas County Health Department the other day and they were either totally evasive or they did not know what or when the plan was for offering clinics and so forth. Could you give me some help on this please?

Those at highest risk for having complications if they get the flu will receive their flu shot first, said leaders with the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department.

The health department will hold a flu shot clinic for people who fall into high priority groups at 3 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. People in the high priority groups include the elderly, young children, pregnant women, people with chronic medical conditions and health care workers.

After Oct. 24, the chance to get a flu shot likely will open to the general public.
