When did health officials start offering annual flu shots?

This year, the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department had its first community flu clinic Oct. 27. It has offered seven clinics at various locations in Douglas County since then, including Lecompton, Eudora and Baldwin.

The next clinic will be from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. View a schedule of all area public clinics online at www.kalhd.org/lhd/lawdoug.

A shot costs $20, said Kim Ens, disease control program coordinator. The clinic accepts Medicare and Medicaid.

Those at risk of the flu began receiving shots in mid-October. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control allowed all people to begin getting flu shots Oct. 24.
