I'd like to know why the city put "no parking" signs on Wakarusa Drive near the Free State softball field. The parking lot is far away from the softball field and there is very little traffic on Wakarusa so it seems like it would make sense to allow parking there for the ball games. It is difficult for older folks to make it from the parking lot to the ball fields.
The city's transportation and traffic engineers have studied the road and determined that parking would not safely fit in with the four-lane design of the road, City Manager Mike Wildgen said. If parking were to be allowed on the street, it likely should be designated as a two-lane street.
