With the new smoking ban in public buildings, how can Hallmark get away with letting their employees smoke within the company?
On March 29, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 7868, which amends the city's smoking regulations, City Manager Mike Wildgen said. One provision of the ordinance allows smoking in break rooms in businesses that do not sell goods or services directly to the general public at the business site, provided the break room meets 11 conditions set forth in the ordinance.
The smoking break rooms located in the Hallmark plant on McDonald Drive meet the requirements of the ordinance, therefore smoking in the smoking break rooms is lawful there.
