Why do we need an art gallery in the addition for the Lied Center when we have the Spencer Museum of Art?
Steve Hedden, dean of the KU School of Fine Arts, said: "The Spencer Museum of Art serves as a resource for the teaching and study of art history, fine arts, and the humanities. Its permanent collection is comprehensive in nature and spans the history of European, North American and East Asian art. In contrast, the gallery in the Lied Center will focus exclusively on work by faculty, student and alumni of the department of art and the department of design."
