Sound Off

I read in the May 25 paper that the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center is building a water slide, and last time I was there, there were two. So I am wondering why are they building a new one? Will this raise the prices for people who maybe already couldn't afford to go there?

The Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Ky., still has two water slides, said Jimmy Gibbs, aquatics manager for the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department.

"One of the slides we had reached its natural life, and we replaced it with a new drop slide at the pool," Gibbs said. The cost of admission to the pool has remained the same for all age groups, he said. Replacing equipment is an expense included in the budget for the aquatic centers.

All age groups can purchase a monthly pass to the pool for $16.
