Sound Off

I am from Florida where we have really severe thunderstorms, and on the highway people frequently turn on their emergency blinkers while they are driving so that other drivers can see them, and I have recently been told that this practice is, in fact, illegal. And, I was wondering why and what the safety hazard is for driving with your blinkers on.

There is nothing that prohibits driving with your emergency blinkers on to alert other motorists in a thunderstorm, according to Kansas Highway Patrol spokeswoman Megan Ingmire.

"The Patrol is supportive of whatever action a person takes to make sure we're driving carefully and safely," Ingmire said.
