What happens to the parking booth attendants at the entrances to Kansas University when the roads are open to traffic? Do they have other duties or do they just not work then?

Donna Hultine, director of parking services at KU, said: "Jayhawk Boulevard is generally open to 'through' traffic when school is not in session. However, during these times, parking in all but student lots still requires a permit. The booth attendants work year around to provide information and temporary parking permits as needed. It's possible that you might find a booth or two empty during this period because it is a great time for them to take vacation days."
