Is Kansas in a drought?

The western third of Kansas is facing emergency drought conditions, according to the weather data library kept by Kansas State University's Research and Extension. Much of central Kansas is in either a drought warning or a drought watch. Lawrence and most of eastern Kansas does not have a drought status at this point, but the northeastern counties of Brown, Doniphan and Atchison are in a drought watch.
