Did Kansas University officials realize when they picked the new logo that they were using the same typeface University of Missouri-Kansas City uses for its logo? The "K" is slightly different but basically the same.

David Johnston, KU's director of marketing, said: "Yes. KU did an extensive review and is well aware that a number of universities - UMKC, the University of Texas at Austin, and Smith College, to name three - use the Trajan typeface. That should come as no surprise. Trajan has strong, classic lines that suggest tradition and excellence, making it an especially good fit for KU."
