In the paper, under the deaths, when it says, "the family suggests memorials" to the deceased's memorial fund, what does that mean? Does that mean that the family is collecting the money to be used at their discretion?
In just about all Journal-World obituaries, there is a family recommendation that memorial donations be made to a specific agency, service, church or charity. Usually those donations can be made to the funeral home, which will then see that the money gets to the appropriate place. There may be, in rare cases, a plea from the family for donations to assist with burial costs.
