How can I get involved to help respond as a volunteer to community emergencies?
Douglas County Emergency Management offers classes allowing people to train for the Community Emergency Response Team. The course prepares area residents for disasters and as community volunteers.
The next classes start July 21. People in the course will meet for five sessions, ending Aug. 13 with an emergency exercise.
Participants will learn about several issues including disaster preparedness, fire suppression, disaster medical operations and search and rescue.
After completing the course, participants are eligible to become an emergency management volunteer. For more information, call 832-5259.
