I'd like to know why the media is so eager to crucify former Lawrence Education Association president Wayne Kruse regarding the $97,000 in missing union dues without some answers from the association's vice president, treasurer and secretary? It seems to me this is a case of the barn door closing after the horse got out. Why didn't Kansas-National Education Assn. question the amount they were receiving before in the past year?
According to current LEA president Sam Rabiola, the association's vice president, treasurer and secretary have been questioned and have indicated they were unaware of the alleged improprieties.
Also, K-NEA officials have indicated that on several occasions, they raised concerns over the shortfall in dues payments. These discussions, however, were held with Kruse rather than the membership at large.
