Can dogs and cats get infected by West Nile virus?

: There have not been clinical signs associated with West Nile virus in dogs or cats, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Though they may be infected by the disease, they may not develop any symptoms. There is no documented evidence that the virus is spread from dog to dog or cat to cat. There has been no evidence that humans have contracted West Nile from anything but mosquitoes.
