Sound Off
You won't accept letters to the editor without a name and address, but you do accept them for Sound Off, and you seem to do a good job of weeding out the outrageous and libelous remarks there. If you make your Public Forum open to anonymous contributors, I can comment on public figures and institutions without fear of retribution. Is it time to rethink your policy?
Sound Off, which gives people the chance to get answers to questions of public interest, serves a much different purpose than the Public Forum, where people have an opportunity to express their opinions, said Ann Gardner, Journal-World editorial page editor. "The Journal-World continues to believe it's important to identify the source of opinions expressed in the Public Forum both as a matter of information and to promote civil discussion of issues."
