Sound Off

I've heard that people who vote early in the elections do not have their ballots counted unless it is a close election. Is this true? Or is it a rumor?

That is not true. Marni Penrod, election deputy in the Douglas County Clerk's Office, said that all advance votes were counted, but not until Election Day, which is Nov. 2.

"We're not allowed to count anything until after 7 p.m. on Election Night," she said.

In the meantime, ballots are kept in a locked box.
