Why wasn't Mike Fine's name on the list of Kansas University coaches to receive a new car every year?
The cars are provided to coaches and administrators employed by the KU Athletics Department.
Although Fine coaches the university's bowling team, the team is not part of the athletics department. Instead, it's considered a club, similar to the university's rugby and lacrosse teams.
Earlier this year, KU's men's bowling team won the school's first national bowling championship since 1963. The women's team, also coached by Fine, finished fifth.
Fine has two volunteer assistant coaches.
