Sound Off

I know U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Kan., beat his Republican challenger, Kris Kobach, in Douglas and Wyandotte counties, but how did he do in GOP-heavy Johnson County?

Moore won Johnson County as well, collecting slightly more than 50 percent of the vote. Kobach had 48 percent. Libertarian and Reform Party candidates Joe Bellis and Richard Wells, respectively, divided the remaining 2 percent.

Historically, Moore has trailed his opponents in Johnson County while finding enough votes in Douglas and Wyandotte counties to win.

Johnson County accounts for almost three-fourths of the 3rd Congressional District's registered voters. Last week's general election was the first time Moore won Johnson County.
