Is KU planning to do anything about the No. 6 school building at 23rd and Iowa? The windows are falling out, birds are flying in and out, and it needs painting.
James Long, vice provost for facilities management, said: "There are no plans or funding for any repair or rehabilitation work at the old school building, which is not presently used by any university program or entity. The university maintains more than 130 buildings on its Lawrence campus and places highest priority on buildings that are used daily and located in the central campus area. ... The proposed state budget for the next fiscal year would cut funding for repair and rehabilitation work from $3.7 million to $2 million, making it very unlikely there would any available state funding for work on the No. 6 school."
