Is the term "March Madness" trademarked? Can other companies use that term, or is that something they have to pay a fee to do?

The term "March Madness" is indeed trademarked. It is owned jointly by the NCAA and by the Illinois High School Assn. Last September, a U.S. District Court affirmed the trademark right in a case brought by a Texas marketing firm that had argued the term was generic.
