In regard to the debate about after-school funding programs, how does the city justify funding programs at only four of the public grade schools?

Actually, 12 of Lawrence's 15 elementary schools have after-school programs. Broken Arrow, Sunset Hill and Wakarusa Valley schools do not. In addition, there are programs at Central and South junior high schools. The four schools for which funds are being solicited by the Lawrence After School Alliance -- Kennedy, Pinckney, Woodlawn and Cordley -- are losing federal grant money this year. The other sites have other grants or methods of funding to sustain them.
