My question is whether the school is going to go after reimbursement for the mercury spill at Quail Run School caused by the parent with the pinewood derby car? It seems like that is a taxpayer burden that the parent should be held liable for.

During a meeting Monday night, Supt. Randy Weseman told the Lawrence school board that he was sending the $5,000 mercury cleanup bill to the Heart of America Council in Kansas City, Mo., which oversees Douglas County Cub and Boy Scouts. It will then be up to Heart of America to decided how it wants to pay the bill.
