Sound Off

I was reading the Journal-World and was delighted to see that KU Vice Provost Richard Morrell is doing much better. But I do not understand why the police department said the cause of the traffic accident was still under investigation. What I'd like to know is what is causing it to be still under investigation?

Sgt. Mike Pattrick of the Lawrence Police Department said, "In general, if we have sent blood off to the KBI lab for analysis of blood alcohol content, we don't consider an investigation to be complete until that lab work is back."

Special Agent Kyle Smith with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said generally the KBI laboratories prioritize forensic services based on a number of criteria. Currently the KBI toxicology division is taking about two to three weeks to process blood alcohol test, Smith said.
