Does Kansas University cancel classes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

Normally, yes. This year, KU added a week to its winter break, making classes start Jan. 23. The holiday is Monday, before spring classes begin.

KU's offices -- like other state offices -- will be closed for the day that honors the slain civil rights leader.
