I was wondering why college football teams wear white uniforms on the road but college basketball teams wear their white togs at home.
There's no particular reason, except that's what's called for in each sports' rule book.
NCAA rules dictate that in basketball "Opposing team uniforms shall be of contrasting color. The home team should wear light game jerseys and the away team should wear dark game jerseys."
For football, the NCAA's rule book states, "Players of opposing teams shall wear jerseys of contrasting colors, and the visiting team shall wear white jerseys. White jerseys may be worn by the home team when the teams have agreed before the season."
