I've noticed a few foxes in town. Do foxes kill cats?

"They'll take a few, but cats are not a major prey source for foxes," said Matt Peek, a furbearer biologist at the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

"Foxes look big, but they're fluffy. Most of them don't weigh 10 pounds. So for them, a house cat can be a formidable opponent," Peek said, noting that foxes are more likely to dine on rabbits, rodents, road kills and, in the summer, insects.
