Do fireworks ever kill people?

In 2003, U.S. emergency departments treated 9,300 people for fireworks-related injuries that included many burns. Four people died from their injuries, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Men and boys suffered 72 percent of the injuries. The most likely fireworks to hurt people included sparklers and rockets.
