I was wondering how long it has been since the substitute teachers in the Lawrence school district have had a raise and how that compares with other district employees?
"A request to increase substitute teacher pay will be submitted to the budget committee for consideration, as has been the case each year," said Mary Rodriguez, executive director of human resources for the Lawrence Public Schools. "The last approved increase was for the 2001-02 school year." Other district employees have received increases each year with the exception of this year. Determinations for 2004-05 are pending school funding decisions from the Kansas Supreme Court and/or the Kansas Legislature.
