I would like to know why over the last several weeks the current temperature readings on Channel 6 compared with the readings on Channel 23, the Weather Channel, are consistently from 4 to 7 degrees different.

According to 6News meteorologist Ross Janssen, "The temperatures shown on Channel 23 come from the Lawrence Municipal Airport, and the currents shown on Channel 6 come from instruments on top of the Channel 6 studio. The most noticeable difference between the two will occur in the overnight and early-morning hours because of topography reasons. Both instruments are fairly accurate, but we use the airport reading as the official for Lawrence."
