I am curious to know how Kansas University's football team can have a player wearing No. 1 on defense and also a player wearing No. 1 on offense.
College football rules allow duplicate numbers as long as the players with the same numbers don't appear on the field at the same time. Consequently, KU linebacker Gabe Toomey can wear No. 1 and so can running back John Randle. Kansas also has two Nos. 36 (fullback Cullen Homolka and defensive end John McCoy).
