Sound Off

I was looking over the state assessment report card, and I noticed that East Heights School is not included. Why was East Heights not in there?

Sandee Crowther, the district's executive director of planning and program improvement, said none of the three elementary schools closed by the Lawrence school board in May was included in the district's testing summaries, though the schools were assessed along with others in the district before their consolidation.

The board shut down East Heights, Centennial and Riverside schools in May.

Crowther said only East Heights would have failed to make "adequate yearly progress," based on student assessment scores. The tests in question were administered in the spring.
