At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Lawrence school district is having an auction at Centennial School, which the school board has closed. I'm just wondering why they are selling this stuff and where does that money go then? Does it go back into the school system?

The Lawrence school district conducts an auction of surplus equipment and materials every couple years, said Tom Bracciano, the district's director of operations and facilities planning.

He said items in the sale were no longer needed by the district.

All revenue from the auction is deposited in the district's capital outlay fund, he said.
