Is that true that alcohol can be allowed at Kansas University fraternity parties?

Todd Cohen, KU spokesman, said: "All fraternity houses at KU are located off-campus and are privately owned facilities. Some chapters are voluntarily alcohol free at their living facilities. All, however, are accountable under the law regarding alcohol consumption either in the houses or at sponsored events elsewhere. Alcohol consumption is not permitted in the university's student housing facilities, which are all located on state property."

Sigma Nu fraternity cannot host or attend parties involving alcohol through June 2004 as part of sanctions announced last week by KU. The restrictions stem from an Aug. 13 incident that left a freshman hospitalized.
