My degree is awarded by the University of Kansas. Why does the Journal-World persist in calling it Kansas University?
The Journal-World and many other organizations -- including some associated with the university -- have long made Kansas University the preferred usage. To name a few others: the Kansas University Endowment Association, Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities and Kansas University Public Management Center. Also, the preferred shorthand for the university is "KU," not "U of K."
