I'm a fifth-grader and I heard it might snow soon. Do I have to go to school if the snow is real deep?
The Lawrence public school district's inclement weather policy says that in most cases an announcement of school closings will be made no later than 6 a.m. on the day school was scheduled to convene.
Check for news of closings on TV's Sunflower Broadband Channel 6, radio stations KLWN and KANU, www.ljworld.com and the district's Web site, www.usd497.org.
If school officials decide conditions do not warrant closure of schools, parents can keep children home for health or safety reasons.
