Can you tell me what kind of birds those are on the artificial lake just east of Lawrence on Kansas Highway 10? There are hundreds of them and they fly around in amazing formations.
"The water-skiing lake that is just east of Lawrence on K-10 regularly attracts large flocks of geese at this time of year," said Alexis Powell, an avid bird watcher and a past president of the Jayhawk Audubon Society.
"The geese rest and sleep on the lake, but fly to fields in the area to forage. Most of the geese are Snow -- both "Snow" and "Blue" forms -- and Ross' Geese, but a few Canada Geese are usually around. Greater White-fronted Geese show up on occasion."
