The census map on page 1A of Wednesday's paper appears to be gerrymandered in the Cordley and New York school districts. Where does this map come from and was it rigged to show a minus population figure in the New York district?

No. The map corresponds to the Census Bureau's census tract and shows the population movement within those tracts.

To see the Census Bureau's map, go on the Web to factfinder.census.gov and click on the link to the 2000 Census summary file. Click on the "detailed tables" link and select "census tract" from the list of geographical options.
