Why didn't the Kansas University men's basketball band play its tradition foul-out song in the Jayhawks' season home finale when two of the Oklahoma State players fouled out?

Band director Tom Stidham explained it was against Big 12 Conference policy for a student band to play at any time other than before the game, after the game, at halftime or during timeouts and that he was advised the league had made that policy a point of emphasis during the 2002-2003 season.

"Sometimes I ignore it," Stidham said, "but sometimes discretion is the better part of valor."

Two Big 12 Conference commissioners were in Allen Fieldhouse during the March 1 KU-OSU game.
