I have to work weekends, so I usually don't get around to mowing my lawn until Monday or Tuesday, which means my grass clippings sit out on the curb for almost a week before they're picked up. Is there someplace I can take them? Can I take them to wherever the city takes them?
Sorry. Bob Yoos, Solid Waste Division Manager for the City of Lawrence, said the city's composting facility was not open to the public for drop-off.
Also, he said it was a violation of city ordinance to leave the bags on the curb for more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup day.
Yoos said you could haul your grass clippings to the Hamm Sanitary Landfill six miles north of Lawrence.
