Sound Off
I was reading about the layoffs in the Lawrence school district and the fact that it is the second year of mass layoffs in the district. I was wondering why there were no administrators on that list?
Scott Morgan, the school board's president, said district administrators weren't on the list of 66 "certified" staff that includes teachers, counselors and nurses who must be notified by the Thursday deadline that their contracts wouldn't be renewed.
An estimated 60 classified, or non-teaching, staff are expected to receive pink slips at the end of the year. Budget cuts on a separate list include administrative staff positions, he says.
