Why has the Kansas University athletics department changed its policy on allowing umbrellas into Memorial Stadium on rainy days?

"The umbrella policy has been in place for the last several years," said Doug Vance, the KU athletics department's director of communications. "Umbrellas can be a safety hazard. They block the view, and water can drip off them onto other fans."

Like KU, Kansas State University prohibits umbrellas at its stadium. So do many other Big 12 Conference schools.

However, the Chiefs will allow fans to bring umbrellas into Arrowhead Stadium on rainy days.
