Will Mike Rees still have a job after the election?
The Nov. 5 general election will send a new governor into office in January, shaking up plenty of state jobs in Topeka. Rees knows his could be one of them.
"I haven't decided if I would even stay," said Rees, chief counsel for the Kansas Department of Transportation. "Whether or not I would even stay is totally problematical."
Rees has led the department's efforts to complete the South Lawrence Trafficway.
Rees said he joined the department in 1982 as a staff attorney. Since then he has served off and on as chief counsel for the department during the administrations of Govs. John Carlin, Joan Finney and Bill Graves.
