Why do kindergartners pay a textbook rental fee?
The textbook rental fund is a collective pool of funds supported by all students.
If the district had to set a per-student fee to cover the entire cost of each student's required textbooks, it would be cost-prohibitive to some families. Textbook costs for courses in secondary school can range from $300 to $700 each semester.
While kindergartners don't realize the full benefit of their textbook rental fee as kindergartners, these students benefit from the fund as they progress through first through 12th grades.
