Can anybody tell me what the city ordinance is regarding big trucks driving on Massachusetts Street between 11th and Sixth? ... Is it unlawful for them to travel Mass. Street?
City Manager Mike Wildgen said: "Section 17-212 of the Lawrence City Code designates truck routes for vehicles weighing in excess of 20,000 pounds, including Highway 59 from the south city limits to Sixth Street, Sixth Street from Iowa to Massachusetts Street and North Second Street to the north city limits; Highway 40 from the west city limits to Iowa Street; Highway 10 from the east city limits to Iowa Street. However, deliveries may be made to businesses throughout the city via the most direct route, including on Massachusetts Street."
