Are there any crematories in Lawrence? Are they regulated?
The only crematory in the immediate Lawrence area is at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home and Crematory, 601 Ind. As of Jan. 1, all crematories in Kansas must be licensed with the Kansas Mortuary Arts Board. Beginning later this year, all crematories in the state will be periodically and randomly inspected.
