Sheriff Rick Trapp recently attended a meeting of the Kansas prosecutors association in Wichita, but could not find time to attend a National or State Sheriff's Assn. meeting. Why?
Sheriff Rick Trapp said he had attended one day of the Kansas County and District Attorney's Assn. conference, June 10. The day he attended, association members received updates on issues in the Kansas Legislature and the Kansas Supreme Court. Trapp said he had canceled his plans to attend the spring meeting of the Kansas Sheriff's Assn. because of work in Douglas County that required his attention. He said he did plan to attend the National Sheriff's Assn. conference in Tulsa, Okla., next week.
Trapp didn't go to last year's National Sheriff's Assn. conference because he had been in office only a few months and he thought it would cost too much to travel to Florida, where the meeting was held.
