I read that no designated hitters were used in any major league games last weekend, since all of the interleague games were in National League ballparks. Has this ever happened before?
Friday marked the first time in nearly 30 years that a designated hitter did not come to bat in a full day of major league baseball games.
It was the first time since the American League started using the DH in 1973 that a full slate of games was scheduled to be played Friday without a designated hitter.
In a scheduling quirk, there won't be a game in an AL park until June 24, providing 10 straight days of DH-free baseball.
