Some state lawmakers say Kansas is a "high tax" state. Is it?

Kansas ranked 28th among states in state taxes as a percentage of personal income. Kansas ranked 32nd in state and local taxes as a percent of personal income. The rankings are contained in a report called "Kansas Tax Facts," which is put together by the Kansas Legislative Research Department.

As a percentage of personal income for state taxes, Missouri ranked 44th, Colorado, 46th, and Nebraska, 33rd. Only Oklahoma at 21st ranked higher than Kansas' 28th ranking.
