The Northeast Kansas Library System gives the Lawrence Public Library $59,000 a year. Where does NEKLS get its money?

Patti Butcher, library development coordinator for the Northeast Kansas Library System, said rural properties in Kansas that weren't taxed for local libraries pay a general library property tax. That money is then distributed to regional library systems like NEKLS to aid local libraries.
