I was wondering if Scott Morgan actually talked to a teacher who said that they "loathed" substitutes, or was that just an assumption that he made? I'm referring to the Dec. 17 article about the teacher absences.
Morgan, the Lawrence school board's president, said the sentiment he expressed about substitutes came from more than one teacher.
He said some Lawrence teachers relied on a small group of trusted substitutes to make certain their classrooms were well-covered during an absence.
"If they can't get them, they try not to do it," Morgan said.
Morgan said his preference would be to have the district's full-time certified teachers in the classroom as much as possible.
